A "Gallinera" is a traditional hall bench with a an empty, cosseted space underneath the seat that was originally meant to keep your hen (gallina in Spanish) or rooster. This is why it is also referred to as a "coop bench." Access to the storage area under the seat is via two sliding doors in the back. You can use this area to corral your cushions or clutter if you don't have any chickens. less
