At the end of the war, Vallauris and the Riviera became resorts for the artistic aristocracy. Painters, sculptors and masters of ceramics settled there and first Picasso in 1948.
The artistic production with its abstract and geometric decorations, its new textures and its rich modern enamels, will definitively replace the traditional pottery in decline. These functional objects (pitchers, plates, dishes) become decorative with their typically 1950 style. See less
