Created in Thailand during the 19th century, this large Martaban vase attracts our attention with its cobalt blue color glaze and delicate design. The jar features a circular top measuring 8 inches of diameter, surrounded by a thin flaring lip. The jar is adorned at the base of its neck with a series of petite swan neck shaped loop handles through which a rope would have been passed to secure a top meant to protect what was stored inside. The belly is accented with faint raised motifs, depicting birds and what seems to be tigers.
