Specific condition notes on the Remington typewriter: the 6 and B keys stick and the ribbon is very dry and fragile, so it needs to be replaced if the typewriter is to be used. Normal signs of age and wear for an antique typewriter, which could use a cleaning as some internal dust is evident. The table might be original to the typewriter, but I can't be sure, so I've cited it as vintage. The top shows wear, including two missing pieces of veneer (one small at the edge of the table and an inch-wide strip that is missing running left to right of the table); the black paint may not be original to the table (I'm not sure, but if it is, it looks as if it were touched up at some point); the metal legs are in great working condition and appear untouched and original. Overall, the table is in very good working condition. less

This Remington Standard Typewriter No. 10, manufactured by The Remington Typewriter Company in Ilion, New York, was its first manual frontstroke model to have "visible writing" functionality (visible typing) and non-stencil switch. While the No. 10 model was first introduced in 1908, this antique typewriter was made in January 1915 and adopted center-shank type based on its two-letter prefix code and serial number RP50871. The No. 10 model was discontinued in 1923.
The typewriter has a metal frame with a black finish. The cylindrical platen on the carriage of black-finished metal and plated metal fittings. Curved folding paper guide behind platen. Horizontal semicircular type basket with type bars pivoted at rear. Ink ribbon carried between two spools on horizontal axes, one on each side of type-basket. Four-row QWERTY keyboard with 42 character keys. 'SHIFT LOCK' and 'SHIFT KEY' keys to left of keyboard, 'Back Spacer' and 'Shift Key' keys to the right. All keys are circular, white with black lettering. At the top of the keyboard are five rectangular black keys with the numbers 1-5 displayed behind the respective keys. Black spacebar along the front of the keyboard.
The antique typewriter is in good to very good overall aesthetic and working condition for its age and is a wonderful collectible. The 6 and B keys stick and the ribbon is dry and fragile—it needs to be replaced if the typewriter is to be used. It could use a bit of cleaning as there is evidence of dust, but this can be easily achieved.
* IMPORTANT NOTE ON MANUFACTURER HISTORY FOR THIS TYPEWRITER:
In 1886, E. Remington and Sons sold its typewriter business to the Standard Typewriter Manufacturing Company, Inc., which granted the buyer the rights to use the Remington name. In 1902, Standard Typewriter changed its name to Remington Typewriter Company. Since the typewriter for sale in this listing was made in 1915, it was manufactured by the Remington Typewriter Company (In 1927, this company merged with Rand Kardex Bureau to form Remington Rand.) Chairish does not offer a brand option for Remington Typewriter Company, hence the (inaccurate) brand selection of Remington Rand, which is all Chairish allows.
Dimensions of the typewriter, which weighs approximately 35-40 pounds:
Height: 11.5 inches
Width: 15 inches
Depth: 15.5 inches
The sale also comes with a wonderful metal and wood typewriter table that has adjustable legs that allow for the table to roll using its caster wheels or to be locked in place by using a metal arm to lower the stationary feet and lift the caster wheels. The table was purchased with the Remington typewriter, but I am not sure whether it, too, was made by Remington or of its age, but its functionality is terrific. The wood top shows signs of age—it is missing two pieces of veneer and the black paint appears to have been touched up at one point in time—but the metal base is in very good aesthetic and working condition (see condition notes for more detail).
Dimensions of the wood and metal typewriter table, which weighs about 10 lbs:
Height: 26.25 inches
Width: 17 inches (top)/23.5 inches (legs)
Depth: 14 inches (top)/18 inches (legs)
