Representative elegant silver jardinière on oval, fluted stepped base, bordered by palmette bands, on top arranged in a lozenge four slender, fluted columns with corinthian-like fancy capitals, crowned by a projecting oval bowl, the lower part is open-worked like lamellae, the upper part is decorated with open-worked vine tendrils and framed by relief bands, the narrow sides are decorated with two raised, delicate volute handles with feather leaf overlays and leaf decoration. Matching solid glass insert with bevelled edges. Dimensions: height: 24.0 cm / 9.44 in width: 46.0 cm / 18.11 in depth: 24.0 cm / 9.44 in silver weight: 2.060 grams / 66.23 troy oz hallmarks: - crescent + crown - german official hallmark from 1888 - 800 - fineness - eagle mark - master's sign bruckmann & sons - silver goods factory, heilbronn established 1805, peter bruckmann (1865-1937) was the first chairman of the 'deutscher werkbund', founded in 1907. The bruckmann company produced numerous precious silver objects designed by well-known designers. The company existed until 1973. - v. Meyer's soehne - distribution, sales: founded in 1810, was a jewelery company in vienna, a former k.u.k. Purveyor to the court and chamber jeweler of the emperor and empress, one of the most important order jewelers in vienna in the 19th and 20th centuries. The company also supplied among others the courts of serbia, montenegro, bulgaria, greece, the vatican, persia, the ottoman empire, and much more.
