Description: Offered here is an 19th century hand painted Dome Top Box in green mixed sponge surface with gray-black sailing ship … more Offered here is an 19th century hand painted Dome Top Box in green mixed sponge surface with gray-black sailing ship painted on the front. The top has what appears to be the initials LTM. The last letter is not clear, but I found inside the box top the name Page Morrison written in pencil, leading me to think the last initial on the top of the box is an M. It could be that the box was passed down through the years in the Morrison family. We acquired the box in Maine. Also found on the top is a rectangle design outlined in what I will describe as twisted ribbon. Across the front rim edge of the box top is what I will describe as pinecones. It’s all in the interpretive eye. The box measures 11 inches high by 24 inches wide by 12 inches deep with a key hole in the front, but there no longer is a lock mechanism inside. The box is in good age-related condition having some great old characteristics of a 19th century box. It is clean, sturdy and constructed with square head nails. It’s a pretty neat piece. less
