The top of the bench … more This pair of antique Chinese Ming Meditation Bench is crafted in Ming "Double-Waist" furniture style. The top of the bench is crafted with a narrow "waist" style with a carving line around all sides of the table. The second "waist" just below the bench top is made from a separate piece of wood and carved in a "narrower waist" connecting the top and the body of the bench in a very unique way. The traditional "horse-hoof" legs and straight lines of these benches show the elegance of Ming furniture. The detailed handworks show great workmanship in making this pair of benches. The benches are handcrafted and structured with wooden pegs and a tenon structure, which is the very traditional craftsmanship for furniture making in ancient China. Made from Elm wood with beautiful wood grain, the benches are very solid and have been kept in excellent condition. Circa early of 19th century. Original patina and wear.
