A heavily potted stoneware vase in a square form, decorated with abstract strokes. The vase feature a narrow slit across the top as the opening to insert dried botanicals or flowers.
The vase is attributed to Japanese potter Hamada Shoji, who was a leading figure of the mingei Folk Art movement. He established his studio and practice in the Japanese town Mashiko to reinvent and spearhead the style that is both rustic and refined.
This vessel is signed at the bottom with LO and a line across the initials.
It’s absolutely stunning. less
