What a luxury - an American-made Victorian high-end sideboard built in the 1890s to early 1900s by Olbrich & Golbeck Company.
The type of wood used on this beautiful piece is called quarter-sawn oak. This type of milling, also called tiger oak cut, was reserved for the most valuable furniture.
The veneer work on this buffet is exceptional. The finish on the richly carved ball-and-claw feet and the curved doors has been carefully restored, with a few imperfections preserved for character.
The beautifully polished brass hardware is original to the piece, and so is the higher-end beveled mirror. There are minor sighs of age to the silvering consistent with the mirror's rich history.
The original leaded glass adds interest and charm to this glamorous piece. The sideboard is supported by the claw feet with original casters, and the upper shelf rests on its own claw feet.
Adding this stately piece to your home decor will provide ample storage in the cabinets and the drawers of the lower section and plenty of room to display your glassware or collectibles.
This piece has been repaired all around, keeping the original finish.
The key works only for the compartment with leaded glass.
