Elegant british-made theater spotlight/projector - strand rank - type "egg shape" from the 1950s mounted on an adjustable wooden tripod converted into a beautiful home/office lamp with a unique design.
imagined by aircraft designer morgan mcleod and manufactured in england in the 1950s, it was the first to be mass-produced in aluminum.
this emblematic example of british design was made by the strand lighting company in their covent garden workshops in london's west end.
a rare model that has been restored to give it a second life.
the head has been stripped and polished to restore the shine of the chromed metal.
the 500-watt lamp and bayonet have been removed and replaced by an ordinary screw-in bayonet that takes ordinary household bulbs or energy savers.
new black vintage woven cotton wiring was also installed with a grounded on/off switch.
a wonderful piece of british theater history in your home or office.
