- This marvelous antique Japanese salt shaker is created in gorgeous sterling silver in the shape of an elongated lantern or … more This marvelous antique Japanese salt shaker is created in gorgeous sterling silver in the shape of an elongated lantern or basket with a horizontal linear pattern surrounding and Japanese calligraphy on the front. The beautiful top is removable and perforated, with a long pin that secures the top to the base. There is also a clip on the back, used to hang from a kimono sash or belt. This fabulous salt shaker rests on three small feet. Hallmarks are: stamped Japanese chop marks [I do not read Japanese], Sterling. Measurements for this fabulous creation are: Height from top to bottom=2-3/4 inches, Diameter at widest=1-1/4 inches.
