This fascinating Mid-century abstract portrait is done in oil on wood , and signed by the artist.
The exaggerated vertical orientation of the piece is immediately eye catching as is the composition, which is a study in contrasting layers of texture.
The hand crafted unvarnished outer wood frame is the color of weathered driftwood , The second layer is a is an inch wide neutral woven fabric strip .
The inner frame is gold painted beveled wood trim which is what outlines the painting .

The outer unvarnished wood frame has a slight distressed look to it which I believe is intentional. The woven fabric "mat" almost like new, with now water marks. The gold painted beveled wood layer has some distressing to it and I'm not sure if it is intentional or normal wear for an item of it's age. The painting itself looks lovely, the colors still bright and clear. Please review all photographs carefully to help you evaluate the piece. less
