This beautiful box is made of seasoned Linden wood, from the Tatra Mountain region of Poland. This unique secret-opening box has a hand carved leaf frond design on the front, the lid and both right and left sides with red-felt lining inside.
The skilled artisans of the Tatra region employ centuries old traditions and meticulous hand craftsmanship to create a finished product of uncompromising quality. The raised interior lining ensure its enduring value as a lasting keepsake. This box is entirely decorated by hand, using various combinations of carving, burning, and staining techniques.
Once bestowed upon royal families throughout Europe as an elegant and exclusive gift, these boxes were used to hold timeless treasures. Then as now, each box is entirely handcrafted, is a unique masterpiece, and is exclusive in its detail and individual character. OPENING INSTRUCTIONS To open: Hold box on a flat surface, hinges facing back. On the front side there is a thin hand carved panel that slides to the left and that unlocks the box.. Open lid. To close: Close lid. Slide thin hand carved panel to the right to close.
