Leighton R. Cram (1895-1981) was born in Newton, Massachusetts and continued his association with the state for the rest of his life. He spent his summers in Rockport, Massachusetts and was a charter member of the Rockport Art Academy. Exhibitions in Philadelphia and New York City as well as in Boston, Gloucester and Rockport showed works by Cram throughout the 1930's and 40's.
This painting was primarily purchased from the estate of the artist back in the 80's
