- This marvelous Royal Doulton "The Helmsman" figurine is created in gorgeous glazed, glossy porcelain in beautiful nautical colors. M. Nicoll … more This marvelous Royal Doulton "The Helmsman" figurine is created in gorgeous glazed, glossy porcelain in beautiful nautical colors. M. Nicoll is the artist. The figure is a rugged sailor at the helm with wheel in hand and appears in cold weather gear. Its number is HN 2499, which was produced between 1974 to 1986. The backstamp reads: "The Helmsman, HN 2499, Copyright symbol, Doulton & Co Limited, 1973.Registration applied for. There is also the Royal Doulton trademark with Lion on a Crown over a globe. Measurements for this fabulous creation are: Height from top to bottom=9-1/2 inches, Width from side to side=4-1/2 inches, Depth front to back=4-1/2 inches.
