Description: Offered is a fine quality walnut metamorphic parquetry inlaid occasional table. It features hand-painted scenes on the surface; peacock at center flanked by two floral baskets. comprises a top, center and under-shelf which folds up on a cantilever to create a table, slim drawers on opposing ends. The table conversion is triggered and locked by pulling knobs situated at center shelf, above a lower stationary shelf. This wonderful piece is tall enough to be used for eating a meal, as a game table and when not in use practical for storage.

Approximate weight: 25 pounds.
Provenance: Property from the collection of celebrated stage and screen actor Rita Moreno. The piece was located in her Berkeley Hills home bedroom, served as a dressing stand between the closet and actor's makeup room.
About the piece: A two-tier design was patented by Besway in 1927 and was exhibited in the British Industries Fair of 1929. The three-tier design was patented by the Adap-table Company. less
