Tizio lamp by Richard Sapper for the Italian publisher Artemide. He created this lamp in 1972, revolutionary for the time being the first lamp to use a halogen bulb, but also for its counterweight system coming perfectly balanced the structure allowing its user to position the lighting with precision on the desired area of 'A simple gesture of the hand. Selected in 1979 for the Compasso d'Oro, it will then be integrated into the permanent MoMA collection. Always published to date, it is now available in three Tizio, Tizio Micro or Tizio Plus model. Special editions have also emerged with in particular an entirely lacquered model of red the favorite color of the designer.
The structure consists of a cylindrical base in propylene ether and polystyrene containing the transformer, a switch is also on it and makes it possible to obtain two different light intensities. The light that starts from the transformer is then transmitted through his two arms into aluminums. Each arm ends with a molded zinc alloy counterweight to balance the pendulum system. The spacing of the arms is allowed and held by bars of chromed steel spaces ending with two thermoplastic insators molded with red colors. Its head, made of aluminum molded under pressure, is also adjustable and has an internal reflector in anodized aluminum.
