From a group of studies of Old Master drawings by the same hand and removed from that artist's portfolio many years ago. A few are signed "Walcott" and dated 1830. Based on the fact they are all laid down to similar mounts, we will consider Walcott to have drawn all these around 1830.
Portrait of Blessed Gerard (1040-1120) a member of the Benedictine Order who founded the Order of St. John of Jerusalem (also known as Knights Hospitaller). Titled on the mount in Latin.
This is after a woodcut by French artist Laurent Cars (1699-1771).
