This piece is a very old bottle cap opener attached to a hand-carved and hand painted wooden figurine of a folk-style woman in profile. She has a blue, pointy bonnet with white dots, a very distinct blue eye, a red coat over a yellow blouse. the colors are darkened from age, but the piece is still colorful. The folds of the red coat are slightly worn, but it's not really noticeable.
This opener has no carved or stamped identification, but it's possibly from Audet Quebec. It was passed down from my grandparents, who were both born in the late 1800's, so this piece is an heirloom from my family who used it as a beer opener.
The wooden figurine part measures 4 inches and the solid opener, which is inserted to the wood, measures 1 inch. The piece has a flat back of solid wood with no decoration, and the edges are worn from use. When lying flat on a surface, the opener is 1/2 inch high.
This is a unique piece of bar ware for any collector. less
