He used charred wood bundles placing them horizontally onto a black painted wood background in a shadow box-style frame. The charred wood is raw and unfinished and the pieces vary in size extruding from the sides of this sculpture.
See accompanying image of the back where he signed and dated it 1966. Very good abstract work of art; Mr Bertschinger is still working on his art today.

Hafis is a tireless traveller, crossing borders between different worlds and cultures, who still in his senior years passionately creates art.
