He used wood slivers placing them onto a wood background in a shadow box-style frame. The wood is raw and unfinished and the pieces vary is depth extruding from the sculpture.
See accompanying images of the back where he signed and dated it and included his village name and a dedication of it in New York 1966. Very good abstract work of art; Mr Bertschinger is still working on his art today.
