Large Paul Maxwell (1925-2015) abstract acrylic stencil cast resin surface artwork on paper. Signed and numbered 56 LR, titled “Horizon on Blue-Green”. Black paper with blue wash on the left and a green wash on the right. Acrylic cast resin in the center in a geometric pattern in cream with blue green shading. A center line represents the horizon. Clear plexiglass front. Black plexiglass frame on top of wood (piece missing from the top left). Merrill Chase Gallery label en verso. Unusual! Perfect for your feature wall. *Paul Maxwell was an American artist and sculptor who was born in Arkansas in 1925. He died in 2015. Maxwell is best known for his work in stencil casting, a technique he developed in the 1970s. Stencil casting involves using stencils to create thickly textured and layered surfaces. Maxwell's work is highly abstract and often consists of some kind of grid—a form that is non-hierarchical and illustrates a major theme of his work. Maxwell's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. less
