At the turn of the 20th century, handcrafted Elegant glassware and blown crystal was a household staple for well-to-do families. This type of glassware was often made in small shops called Hand houses, where intricate hand finishes were added to the crystal and glassware. As the cost of making this type of glassware was high, it was considered a luxury item. While these six blown pink crystal beauties are unmarked, the optic paneled design of the bowl and wheel cut floral and foliate motif have been attributed to the New Martinsville Glass Company. Sublimely elegant, the beautifully paneled drawn-in bowl rests on a slender stem with applied domed foot. Gorgeous pale pink color has varying hues of intensity depending on lighting. Handcrafted from blown crystal with a refined floral and foliate wheel cute motif. High fired polished finish gives the crystal a lustrous effect. Wheel cutting results in concave designs done by skilled artisans versus the more common acid etched, raised design that was often employed during this period of glass making. Each stem is 6½” high; lip diameter 3¼” x 2¾” base diameter; capacity 8 oz. apiece. Together the set weighs 2 lbs. In excellent condition with little to any visible use wear. Exceedingly lovely and the perfect complement to any tablescape at your next gathering!
