This fascinating work of art … more This marvelous antique paperweight is created in gorgeous embossed copper with a carrara marble base. This fascinating work of art depicts the Golden Hind [Hinde] which was Sir Francis Drake's flagship galleon, on the high seas under full sail. Under the rule of Queen Elizabeth I, Sir Francis Drake was the first Englishman to circumnavigate the earth form 1577 to 1580. This historic ship is bordered by a rope design, as well as lapping wave trim. This handsome paperweight appears to have been hand engraved, is signed "NB" by the artist and there is a suede leather backing to prevent surface scratching. Measurements for this fabulous creation are: Height from top to bottom=4 inches, Length from side to side=5 inches, Depth from front to back=1 inch. This marvelous antique paperweight has been well cared for, gently used and is in excellent condition. The copper plate is free from chips, cracks, damage or repair. The marble base has a chip in one corner that has been repaired, but it does not diminish the beauty of this beautiful historic paperweight.
