If you poke around on the Web you’ll see a number of versions, but… you’ll notice that this particular design has all the “right stuff,” like the half-dome top of the brass-plated base, an elegant design feature that in my mind puts this at the top of the design heap. The “leaves” are more graceful than those of other versions, and finally, there’s the orange color of the shades and the outer leaves – what could more perfectly express the color preferences of the time?

As you’ll notice from the photos, this lamp is in excellent condition. The base is made of white metal, with a lacquered brass finish, and it’s in fine condition. Being made of white metal, it’s not subject to rusting. The rest of the lamp is made of brass-plated steel. There’s a tiny bit of rust present on the stem of the spike on the left. There’s a bit of disturbance to the white paint on the interior edge of both shades.

The switch is four-way: off, left shade, right shade, both shades. The goosenecks can be bent in any direction, so the lamp can be used for general “atmosphere” purposes, lighting up the wall and/or ceiling, or directed downward to a table or writing surface. Any size bulb(s) can be used, so this lamp can be used as a significant light source.

Measurements: about 24 inches high and 26 wide with the shades as you see them in the main photo. The cattail-like spikes are 22 inches high. The base is about 7 ½ inches across. less
