Part of a series of works that are a collaboration between Young & Battaglia and Kirin Young that all feature a butterfly obscuring the face of the subject. One of the more unique aspects within this work is the butterfly’s size in context with the woman. In this mid - 18th century style contemporary portrait, fun is being had with the placement of the butterfly but, as with other works in the series, the butterfly isn’t entirely out of place due to the pallet. Here the butterfly is even less misplaced as the striking nature of the butterfly matches that of the woman and it’s as if they are partners in the image.
