Offered is a vintage Brazilian inlaid wood tray with a butterfly wing collage design under a protective glass top designed by artisan Daniel Teixeira. The tray features a kaleidoscope geometric pattern made from the wings of several Amazonian lepidoptera species, the more prominent of the era being the iridescent Blue Morpho with colors that shift from purple, to blue, to dusty brown. The base is masonite board, the casing for the glass is intricate marquetry piping in two tones of wood, and the rear has saw-tooth picture hangers affixed on the top corners that enable to the tray to be easily hung and displayed on a wall.
The tray measures 18.5" x 11.375" x 1.875". less
