This is a Great Looking and Quite Unusual Antique Wooden Suitcase. American in Origin - Circa Very Late 19th Century. … more This is a Great Looking and Quite Unusual Antique Wooden Suitcase. American in Origin - Circa Very Late 19th Century. It is Completely Hand Made Out of Indigenous North American Solid Black Walnut. The Front is Inlaid With Maple Wood - Depicts a Old Style Tent and Reads I.O.O.F ( Independent Order of Odd Fellows ) - F.L.T Rc. These are Most Likely the Initials of The Lodge Member Owner - Most Likely Even the Maker of The Suitcase. It Also Has Maple Inlay Striping Around the Perimeter The Top is Mounted with a Very Nice Quality - Hinged Solid Brass Carry Handle. It is in Very Good Overall Original Condition and Displays Nicely. Note that it has a Original Oil ( Possibly Linseed Oil ) Finish That Brings Out the Wonderful Natural Wood Grains ( It has Never Been Varnished ). The Brackets on the Interior Indicate that it Had Some Sort of Divider Panels - Now Missing. Also NOTE the the Original Locking Mechanism is Included but it is Not Attached and There is No Key Included - See 2 Listing Photos.
