A stunning pair of large Italian "Ref Impruneta" terracotta fluted urns featuring scallop edges and reeded bodies. This pair sits on Jodhpur sandstone carved pedestals with flower and scroll patterns. The urns and pedestals stand a very impressive 69 inches Tall.
The terracotta Urns measure 39 inches high x 30 inches in diameter with 18-inch round bases. These urns separate into two parts for easy transport and assembly. The terracotta bell of the urns is marked on the inside and the round terracotta bases are marked on the top with the markers mark, Stamped with the very prestigious REF IMPRUNETA 2008/3, Made in Italy see photos. IMPRUNETA in Florence in the region of Tuscany, Fireclay is the hardest of all terracotta, as it was fired at extremely high temperatures and is durable in cold climates, terracotta planters from Impruneta are frost resistant to -22F.
The terracotta urns are magnificent stand-alone pieces and are even more striking raised on the Jodhpur sandstone pedestals.
The urns and the pedestals have been married together. These show-stopping architectural pieces would look great flanking the front door of your home, business, and or garden as the scale is sensational.
The sandstone pedestals separate into three pieces for easy transport and assembly. They measure 30 inches high x round column 18 inches in diameter top and square base 22 1/2 inches. The sandstone pedestals are solid and in great overall condition, some minor loss of sandstone around the base is not noticeable unless pointed out. The Sandstone Pedestals are from Jodhpur, India Circa 2008.
Ref Impruneta in Italy has produced some of the most beautiful fireclay planters and urns in the world and fortunately, these custom one-of-a-kind urns were able to survive the journey. The beautiful weathered colored patina surface on these large terracotta urns only comes with age. Lichen and mossy bits cover the inside surface of the urns, the urns can be left empty, and they can accommodate planting as they have very deep planting wells. Wonderful condition, one of the urns was professionally repaired, and the cracks from the repair are slightly noticeable on the inside and outside, both urns have minor losses to the rims consistent with age see photos.
Originally acquired from Antique Collective in Summerland California, they came out of an estate in Montecito, Santa Barbara. less
