Victorian solid sterling silver four-piece after-dinner coffee service crafted by New York jeweler and silversmith Howard & Co. (active 1866-1922).
Consisting of coffee pot, open sugar bowl, creamer and matching tray. With hexagonal paneled bodies, beaded borders, and ivory insulators. The interior of the sugar bowl and creamer is gold washed. All pieces are monogrammed LJR.
Hallmarked Howard & Co. New York Sterling [pattern number] 1418. The coffee pot, sugar bowl and creamer are dated 1904. The tray is dated 1905. The capacity of the coffee pot and creamer is indicated.
Tray: 10” x 10” square
Coffee pot: 9 ¼”high
Creamer: 5 ¼” high
Sugar: 4 ½” high
The total weight of all four pieces is approximately 58.2 ounces.
All pieces are in excellent antique condition, with surface scratches and age appropriate wear (including a couple of tiny dings), but no significant damage. less
