The single shelf is … more This is a good example of fine Chinese joinery - the cabinet shows nice dove-tail joints. The single shelf is securely joined to the sides, the end caps are clearly visible. The wood is cedar, which is a deterrent to insects, and it was probably meant to store books in a scholar study. The door is not hinged but is slotted to the two openings on the bottom shelf. It is not convenient as a night stand. But it does have a good appearance with the fluted edges around the front and nice solid little legs. The door is secure due to the added magnet. less
