This is a timeless wood and woven cane chair, designed by the New York architect and designer Ward Bennett, in collaboration with Brickel Associates. Bennett’s pieces are iconic examples of the important mid-century modern era of American design, and their clean, classic forms resound in today’s marketplace (in 2004 they were reintroduced by Geiger for Design Within Reach). Bennett’s work can be found in the Museum of Modern Art and the Cooper-Hewitt Museum.
Listed separately from the group of same era chairs due to difference in caning/finish.
Early original model. Without the wrap-around bar of later models underneath, this chair is lighter and simpler.
