Historically an enigma wrapped in a riddle, James Mont was (maybe?) born in Istanbul in the early 1900s and he (might have?) studied in France in Spain. What is known is that he built a career based on his shady Brooklyn business connections (the mob!) and designed some of the most sought after Deco, Regency and Mid-Century designs going. These vintage pieces by Mont are larger than life but not ridiculous—tinged with a bit of eastern spice, and perfect for adding a touch of mystery to any room.
