It began in the early 20th century, when Danish architect and furniture designer, Kaare Klint, put forth the design principles that would come to inform the modern Danish furniture movement. And Danish lighting is not exempt, thankfully for us design fans, with its simple forms belying the technique and design acumen needed to achieve them so seamlessly. From Poul Henningsen's 1958 pendant light (the reintroduction of it in copper, 60 years after its introduction, speaks to its timeless essence) to Arne Jacobsen's Danish lamps, Louis Weisdorf's shiny floor lamp, and Danish modern light fixtures by Jørgen Kastholm and others, the Danish light fixture selection is an understated but thoroughly inspiring one.
