Large, very elaborately decorated porcelain plate: the centre is completely filled by a finely painted polychrome picture, framed by a broad serrated band painted in gold over gold: A romantic scene in a forest clearing on the banks of a stream, the beloved with her hair up and wrapped in a loose robe, sitting at the foot of a tree, placing a garland of roses around the neck of the gallant leaning at her feet, in front of her on the ground a hand mirror, in the background, in front of an aqueduct, two Roman soldiers observing the love scene. The plate rim is divided into eight elongated dark red reserves on a white and pink background, alternating with almond-shaped or semicircular medallions in blue with white decoration or light pink with gold painting, the elongated reserves lavishly decorated with feather leaf and tendril decoration in gold, partly painted in impasto.
