These plates or dishes are made of paper decoupage with gold leaf under glass. This astonishing material also makes it a pretty decorative object. They could be cool hung on a wall together as a series. 4 plates depict butterflies and 8 depict different flowers. Made in France by artist Marisa Osorio Fariha. Signature on back. Not sold in the US. Purchased from store in Paris.

Decoupage from 17th, 18th or 19th century engravings.
The engravings are reproduced, cut by hand and applied to the back of a glass base, and appear by transparency.
The decoration is then enhanced with gold or silver leaf.
Finally, the glass is lacquered with a background color, then stabilized by numerous layers of varnish.
