Fantastic ink on paper with a landscape theme and abstract style by the Catalan artist Josep Miquel Serrano made in 1970.
The work presents a scene in which there are some dry trees, almost without branches and leaves. Without a background, a brief horizon is barely drawn behind the left trunk, making an attempt to delve deeper into the dimensionality of the landscape.

About Josep Miquel Serrano:
Josep Miquel Serrano was born in Barcelona on March 21, 1912. His artistic career began when he was only 15 years old when he went to work in the workshop of Xavier Nogués. Later in 1929 he entered the Barcelona School of Arts and Crafts, La Llotja. He was also part of the cultural association “The Arts and the Artists” founded by the painter Iu Pascual, with clear Noucentista influence. During the 1930s he participated in numerous exhibitions at the Montjuïc Hall. Very active in the cultural world, this allowed him to receive all the artistic news of the moment as well as inspiration in the world of dance.
In 1936 he held his first individual exhibition at the well-known Syra Gallery in Barcelona, ​​which earned him very good reviews in the press and established him as a promising artist. But the arrival of the Civil War cut short the development of his career in Spain as he went into exile in France. There he continued to exhibit his works in galleries in Paris such as Aux Quatre Chemins. Once the Civil War was over, he returned to Barcelona, ​​where he dedicated himself to selling his art and interior decoration, as well as illustrating books.
In 1944 he participated in the exhibition organized by Eugeni d'Ors “Salón de los Once” at the Biosca Gallery in Madrid. Shortly after he decided to settle in Sitges, where he continued working on his art and as a decorator.
His painting is characterized by the presence of flowers, still lifes, roosters, horses, bullfighters, portraits\. Although he also worked on photography to a lesser extent.
The last decades of his life were marked by alcoholism and poverty, a melancholy that was reflected in his work, which became darker. He died on September 21, 1982.
