A captivating mid century modernist abstract composition, painted in oil onto board.

The painting is evocative of stained glass, with bold outlines around geometric coloured shapes. The surrounding borders of the picture are painted in dark blue, with the brighter colours in the centre, almost as if light is streaming through the central area and highlighting the lit areas against the dark areas. The varnished layer of the painting also adds and enhanced this beguiling effect even further.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary subdued gilt frame. The painting has light scattered craquelure present to its varnish layer, as well as some areas of paint loss and abrasion around its edges, including some to the bottom section. The frame has some wear and scuff marks. Please note that there is some glare in the photographs due to the varnished surface. less
