What size bed is a daybed comparable to?
A daybed mattress is generally equal in size to a twin mattress, which measures 38″ wide and 75″ long. It’s also worth noting that many daybeds will come equipped with a trundle mattress. A trundle mattress bears the same dimensions as a twin mattress but it is thinner than a traditional mattress, measuring only 8″ thick (the idea being that a trundle mattress needs to be thin enough to tuck under a bed frame). On rare occasions, you will see a daybed outfitted with a full mattress, which measures 54″ wide and 75″ long. Given that most daybeds equate to a twin mattress, most are best suited for providing extra sleep space in a child’s room or nursery. While they can be used in a flex space to provide sleeping space for adults, daybeds are probably best reserved for those who host occasional overnight travelers rather than guests for weeks on end.
