What is Pop Art style?
Pop Art is an art style that rose to fame in the mid 20th century. Its defining traits are the appearance of pop culture references and bright, vibrant hues. These pop culture references can include everything from comics to picnic tables to celebrities to coke bottles. At the time of its inception, Pop Art was considered to be a backlash against traditional forms of art. These traditional forms include Realism and its many sub-movements like Neoclassicism and Romanticism. Today, the most universally recognized Pop Art artist is Andy Warhol. His Campbell soup cans as well as his celebrity portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor are continually in demand. Other highly desired Pop Art artists include Roy Lichtenstein, Jasper Johns, and David Hockney. Designers today love to use Pop Art to add prankish charm to interiors, including as a way to imbue unexpected color into monochrome rooms.
