We at Chairish are incredibly proud to announce our second annual Home Furnishings Resale Report. We conducted months of in-depth research, statistical analysis, and polling to get to determine the state of our industry today. The good news? Vintage and antique sourcing are more popular than ever, and they’re the most cost-effective, sustainable, and stylish way to shop. Below, take a look at just a few of the findings from our research, and be sure to read the report right here on Chairish.
As we all know, inflation is a persistent problem that’s showing few signs of abating. Our research found that 87% of consumers are concerned about rising prices.
The good news? Vintage shopping remains relatively immune to these soaring costs. In fact, listing prices on Chairish have remained flat, while consumer prices on furniture and other goods have skyrocketed.
Our research showed that vintage prices were lower than many newly made goods from premium brands, and offer the additional benefits of being unique, chic, and better for the planet.
Additionally, the stigma that some shoppers may have felt about buying secondhand appears to have dissipated. Furniture resale is more mainstream than ever, and ranks second only to books and media as the category buyers are most comfortable purchasing secondhand.
Of course, sustainability is a leading factor for many when it comes to shopping vintage. Chairish is a proud part of the circular economy, ensuring that goods stay in circulation longer—and out of landfills. In fact, if more consumers adopted the circular economy, primary material consumption could be cut by 32% by 2030.
We’ve been honored to be able to keep so many fabulous pieces in circulation for so many years. Not only is vintage chic, unique, and more popular than ever, but it’s an exceptional value and the best choice for our planet.
