This week, we’re profiling fashion stylist and writer Tania Sarin, who was on the hunt for incredible art from an emerging creator. Teaming up with designer Chad Wood, she found a piece she loved — in the first spot she tried. Read on to learn more, and be sure to check out some of the incredible art available on Chairish.
What Chairish item did you buy that you’d like to share a story about?
I’ve purchased quite a few items on Chairish. A mid-century modern brass Sputnik chandelier; so many home accessories; and two pieces of art by Sean Kratzert and Andy Dobbie.
The Sean Kratzert piece is my personal favorite. It’s become the standout of my living room, with the pop of abstract color and the texture of the oil paint adding dimension. I also think that it’s so important to support emerging designers!
In what room did you use it?
My living room
In a few words, how would you describe your interior design style?
I would describe my style as eclectic, mid-century modern mixed with post-modern, Art Deco design. Definitely inspired by Kelly Wearstler.
How did you find the item you bought on Chairish, and what made you choose it? Did you have a specific search or were you just browsing?
Chad Wood has been helping me source unique, vintage pieces. I knew I wanted to create a home that tells a story, and so I reached out to Chad after I had decided on a specific aesthetic. We then worked together to find pieces that matched that vibe.
Did you know where you’d put this piece in your home when you bought it, or did you figure you’d find the right spot?
I originally thought I would play around with locations when the piece arrived —but it ended up fitting in the first spot I tried. It was the perfect fit!
Why do you love shopping vintage? And how does sustainability factor into your choices of new products vs. vintage finds?
Vintage is so important to me. On top of being more sustainable, you are preserving a piece of history while telling a beautiful and personalized story in your space. Vintage, for me, checks so many boxes for what I’m looking for in decorating my home.
Are there any dream vintage or antique pieces you wish you could have?
Yes — I am obsessed with the De Sede Non Stop Sofa and the Ultrafragola Mirror.
