What was the design inspiration for your home? What kinds of furnishings and decor did you choose for the space, and why?

The design was inspired by the architecture of the house and the history of my tree-lined, winding street in the West Village. I wanted to create a very charming, European-inspired space that was layered with elements from France, England, and Italy. It is definitely a closet of curiosities and an eclectic space.

Do you have any decorating must-haves that find their way into every home you own?

Yes. Antiques and vintage. It creates a worldly and interesting environment.

What kinds of pieces do you always find yourself picking up when it comes to vintage and antique shopping? Are there particular eras of design or types of furnishings that you find yourself drawn to?

1960s French Space Age, Italian Memphis Milano, and anything from the 70’s that feels Disco Era.

How do you like to incorporate vintage and antique finds into your home? Do you like to mix vintage and new pieces together?

I love to mix new and vintage together. The vintage is what adds a uniqueness and a sense of whimsy, the new adds a freshness.

ON CHAIRISH & VINTAGE PIECES

What do you find most compelling about Chairish?

I love the hunt. When I’m on Chairish, I almost feel like I’m at a flea market in another part of the world, which is one of my favorite activities.

How does sustainability factor into your design choices and love of vintage?

I am constantly reimagining pieces. I love the idea that a piece of vintage or an antique has lived many lives. I think it goes beyond sustainability; it’s humbling.
