As far as star-worthy experiences go, the San Francisco Art and Antiques Show consistently delivers. This year, the 37-year-old show promises to kick up the star-power even more with a literal star theme. The Sun, The Moon, & The Stars: Celestial Imagery in Art, Antiques & Design will take place at San Francisco’s Fort Mason Center October 11-14, with the Preview Gala on the 10th. If you’re headed to the show, we’ve broken down the show’s must-sees. 1. Antiques Galore
First and foremost, head to the San Francisco Fall Art and Antiques Show for the antiques! Over 60 dealers will be on hand, showcasing covetable antiques from all over the globe. Thursday, October 11-Sunday, October 14.
2. Talks To Toast To
The San Francisco Fall Arts & Antiques Show will host two hour-long lectures each day, as well as two cocktail hour sip-and-learns on Friday and Saturday. Haute Couture & High Design: The Intimate Partnership of Fashion and the Decorative Arts
To promote her hot-off-the-press book Dior & His Decorators, author and design historian Maureen Footer will be taking an insider look at the fashion-interior design connection. Learn more about the interior designers that fashion notables like Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, and Marcel Rochas hired to design both their personal homes and their fashion houses. It’s set to be one très chic hour! Saturday, October 13 @ 11:00 a.m.
The Test of Time: Charlotte Moss & Nina Campbell Dish on Design and Expound on Entertaining
Entertaining gurus and world-renowned interior designers Charlotte Moss and Nina Campbell will show you how to throw a fete that you’ll be proud of during this informational talk moderated by show chair Suzanne Tucker. Expect a spirited dialogue, covering everything from how to set a table to personal tidbits on Charlotte’s and Nina’s personal design philosophies. Saturday, October 13 @ 2:30 p.m.
3. Exclusive Book Signings
Interior designers, including Jay Jeffers, Suzanne Kasler, Grant Gibson, Hutton Wilkinson, Charlotte Moss, and Nina Campbell, just to name a few, will be on hand Thursday through Saturday to sign their newest tomes. 4. A Champagne Brunch
Pair your San Francisco Fall Arts & Antiques visit with a decadent champagne brunch. It’s hosted by the Enterprise for Youth (the incredibly inspiring non-profit that SFFAS benefits) and the show’s board of directors. Nosh your way through pastries, quiche, eggs, bacon, smoked salmon, fruits—and of course, mimosas!—while taking in the sounds of a live band. Tickets are available here. 5. Surprise Musical Preview!
If you’re headed to the champagne brunch, be sure not to miss the closing ceremony, which includes an exclusive preview of the upcoming musical Lautrec! His Muses & Their Music! Slated to run at the San Francisco Diane B. Wilsey Center for Opera in 2019, Lautrec! captures the raucous, kick-up-your-heels society infamously captured in the artwork by French artist Toulouse-Lautrec. The full production has been adapted to an hour-long snippet exclusively for the show. Ready your applause! Sunday, October 14 @ 2:00 p.m.
