We’re back with a new guest tastemaker for some quick-fire questions and a mini-curation of some fab Chairish finds!
This time around, we’re talking to the dynamic duo that make up Charlotte-based R&R Interior Design 365, Regina and Robin Reaves. In a meet-cute that interior-lovers dream of, Regina and Robin met in college while working in a home design store. After years of purchasing, selling, and decorating their own homes, they decided to start an interior firm together. Both Robin and Regina spent years in real estate, and with Regina’s eye for design and Robin’s additional experience in the home insurance field, they knew they could make R&R Interior Design 365 a reality.
The pair also recently won Furnished, a Charlotte-based design competition for charity. Ten designers created a vignette in the Furnish for Good showroom, and voters casted their pick by making donations to underserved communities. The furniture pieces in the vignettes were also later put up for online auction to help raise even more money! Read on to hear about Regina and Robin’s experience in the competition and exciting upcoming projects the firm has planned for the new year.
What is the most memorable career moment you’ve had so far?
Regina Reaves: We recently won a design competition held in our city of Charlotte called Furnished. Out of ten designers, we won the most votes for our “Gucci Gardenia” themed vignette and raised over $17,000 for the organization. We were completely shocked that we ended up raising that much for such a great cause. It was the best experience and so fulfilling to help do some good in our community. We worked so hard on our vignette and really gave it our all so it’s definitely a memorable moment for us and always will be.
Can you give us details on any upcoming design projects that the firm has slated for 2022?
Our next project release is a master suite scheduled for the beginning of February. The space will have a modern, luxury flair with a neutral color palette and pops of rust orange and gold tones. Master suites are actually one of our favorite spaces to create so we cannot wait!
What’s one trend you’re hoping to see more of in 2022? What’s one trend you’re hoping retires?
We love that more clients are catching onto the use of color and brightening their spaces. For awhile it seemed like clients would shy away from colorful rooms and opt for neutral walls. We wouldn’t say there’s necessarily a trend we want to see retire. Interior design is all about being creative and the clients personal taste as well. If you like it…. go for it!
What is the most outstanding design element you’ve ever incorporated into a space?
We completed a master suite over the summer that incorporated 3D wall panels in the ceiling with board and batten in between the panels. We also painted the entire room (ceiling and baseboards included) a smokey, moody gray. It was amazing! It has to be our top design element to date just due to the texture and creative freedom.
Do you collect anything?
We collect design books. Really books of all kind and anything that captures our attention. We honestly have so many books, it’s hard to keep count at this point. Just to name a few, AD of course, Tom Ford, Donatello Versace, and Vogue.
When you’re not working, where can we find you?
Most likely you’ll find us at home with our kiddos. We have a toddler and a teenager so we love to spend time with them when we’re not tied up on a project. When we don’t have the kids, we enjoy staycations in our city of Charlotte and going uptown to catch a ballgame.
