Originally a 1,200-square-foot boutique in San Francisco’s North Beach, DZINE has grown leaps and bounds to become something entirely bigger (and not just in terms of their 15,000-square-foot flagship showroom in the Design District). Today DZINE is a concept store, a gallery, and an event venue that serves the trade and high-end consumer audience alike, lending it a unique position in the city’s design landscape.
Known for representing major European brands like FLOS, Boffi, Paola Lenti, and more, DZINE’s showroom is also home to smaller family-owned makers. Founder Eve Forbord works to keep these ties to the European market strong. “Ninety-five percent of our business is in Italian furnishings,” Forbord said. “We go to Salone del Mobile in Milan every year to see new products firsthand and to meet with our manufacturers. It also gives us the opportunity to explore smaller manufacturers and emerging designers who are not represented in the U.S.”
In addition to selling contemporary indoor and outdoor furniture, accessories, and art, DZINE is also a go-to source for upscale kitchens, baths, and closets. Additionally, the brand offers interior architecture and luxury staging services as well as a fully curated art gallery program to support local artists and elevate their work.
DZINE’s showroom also plays host to frequent events for the art and design world. Some of their highlights include monthly “Artists in Conversation” events, bi-annual opening night receptions for their gallery exhibitions, and fundraisers for philanthropic organizations, with the aim of redefining what a retail space means.
