It might best be known for its country crooners and steel fiddle slides, but the new tune coming out of Nashville these days is decidedly design-centric. With a new class of designers and tastemakers at the ready, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the 29th Nashville Antiques and Garden Show than partnering with local PR pros, Proper, to host a designer-laced bash. Held at the arty neighborhood bistro, Le Sel, the guest list included a mix of Nashville interior designers, trendsetters, and Music City royalty (and a few who can count themselves all three!). Ahead, go inside the crazy-cool get-together and see how Proper constructed the artful and chic underground vibe.
Graphic Magic
Taking cues from the street art-style murals that outfit Le Sel’s private dining room, stylist Shelly Colvin elected to curate a urban maximalist vibe for the event. Playing off of the murals’ repetitive patterns, Shelly sourced colorful, densely-printed textiles from local maker Electra Eggleston for the tablecloths and chair backs. To add yet another layer of pattern to the table, each place-setting was crowned with a deck of Chairish Print Shop notecards. So as not to compete with all of the fierce print action, Shelly kept the floral arrangements and candlelight simple, opting for simple white tulips in bud vases and skinny white taper candles anchored in acrylic block holders, all from The 12th Table.
A Sweet Southern Crew
In addition to Proper co-founders Pam Manela and Rose Mary Gorman, attendees included Chairish co-founder and president Anna Brockway, Country Living Homes Editor, Jennifer Kopf, singer-songwriter and owner of White’s Mercantile, Holly Williams, interiors photographer Alyssa Rosenheck; Mugs Buckley and Rose Hollinshead of Chairish, and a cache of local interior designers, including Jonathan Savage, Jason Arnold, Hannah Crowell, Rachel Halvorson, Lori Paranjape, Julie Couch, Lauren Bradshaw, and Stephanie Sabbe.
