Mention a magazine rack today, and most people’s minds go immediately to the lackluster display in your dentist’s office. However, this humble organizing accessory has warranted the attention of design legends like Paul McCobb, Milo Baughman, and Dorothy Thorpe, all of whom created their own iterations. We think these ground-level accents are due to be rediscovered, both for their power to keep magazine hording (guilty!) in-check, and because the vintage versions are amazingly stylish additions to any room. Ready to rack up some style points?

Make The Most of Your Magazine Rack

1. Tidy Up Time
From a purely practical standpoint, a magazine rack is a far superior spot to stash those magazines you haven’t gotten around to reading, rather than letting stacks pile up all over your surfaces. Plus, running out of room in your rack is the perfect nudge towards the recycling bin.

2. Make (Any) Read Reachable
No one said that magazine racks were only for magazines. You can fill those slots with some of your favorite coffee table books as well. The whole point is that something you’ll enjoy looking through is always within arm’s reach of your favorite chair.

3. Display Away
Magazine racks can work as well for display as they do for storage. Collect vintage magazines? Those titles would look mighty fetching displayed in a magazine rack rather than stacked up in the bookcase. Depending on the style, they can even double as a chic spot to keep your record collection stowed, with a choice cover in front of course.
