Why Quitting was Kristin’s Best Career Move

We’re back with a new guest tastemaker for some quick-fire questions and a mini-curation of some fab Chairish finds!

This week we are joined by interior designer, Kristin Kong.  Kristin is the founder and principal of K Kong Designs, the full service Atlanta firm which has been transforming both residential and commercial spaces since 2011.  But Kristin hasn’t always been steering her career towards sleek interiors. In fact, this Vanderbilt grad has a degree in fine arts and was working in fashion design before she felt the pull of a different creative path.  She soon enrolled in the Art Institute of Atlanta where she earned her BFA in interior design. Now, she leads her team in the pursuit of that ultimate mix of classic aesthetics and bold accents, each time achieving a look that’s perfectly tailored to each client.

Lucky for us, we got the scoop from Kristin on a few of her favorite things, from binging television to the coolest vintage in her Atlanta home.  Read on to meet this rising Southern design star!

Last show you binge watched?
I’ve binge watched all the usuals – “The Ozarks,” “The Crown,” “House of Cards,” “Homeland.” Currently, I’m counting down the days until the last episode of “Game of Thrones.” I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas!

Coolest vintage piece in your house?
My Le Corbusier LC4 Chaise Lounge chair in brindle cow hide.

Where’s next on your travel bucket list?
Marrakesh, Morocco. The markets, the architecture, the color! It’s on my bucket list for the sensory experience alone.

Most memorable career moment you’ve had so far?
Leaving a big architectural firm to start my own business!
