Create Balance With Your Seating
It’s no secret that scaled-down furniture helps preserve precious floor space. Settees, loveseats, and clean-lined chairs lend a living room simple sophistication. If you opt for smaller furnishings, allot some empty space between pieces. Doing so will make a room look bigger than it really is and usher in a bit of “breathing room.”
Surprisingly, larger furniture pieces can also do wonders in maximizing space. Large sectional sofas can fit neatly into a living room while providing ample area to lounge on. A few, large pieces make a space look visually cohesive, as well.

What better way to open up horizontal space than to utilize vertical space? Install shelving, sconces, and decorative elements on your walls. You might even consider built-in storage should you be doing a to-the-nines makeover. If built-ins aren’t an option, go for tall, narrow storage cabinets.
